Scoville grandson

hey had some ideas around the use of Scovilles grandson and would like some feedback. i see Scovilles grandson as an almost goastly figure who is within all of the pieces overseeing the outcome of the scenes and making notes towards his article throughout. this should be a very physical and abstract character that is part of the show but seems outside at the same time. maybe you dont understand the reson he is in the performance until the end when the pitch is made for the research (or this could be made at the begining of the performance).
let me know what you think and where you feel adaptations can be made.
this will also give a different meaning to the performance and allow the piece to gain some absurditiy.

  1. Ok sounds good. Maybe if we could put him in abstract scenes? A possible dreamy type sequence. Possibly to act as Scovilles conscience when putting forward his experimental operations? Just a couple of ideas that could be adapted into your idea.

  2. well, my thoughts were that he was a ghoastly figure that is taking notes throughout the scenes and checking that the scenes are going correctly as if the performance is a visualisation of his wrtiting. so, maybe if someone picks up a coat, he helps the proceedings and so on. i think this will give a different side to the performance, so as we go through the performance we see his writing develop and the intensity of the scenes develop through this. i really want a lot of physical theatre from this character and thats why i thoguht it would be good to keep this character in. as he is not actually in the writing and the play itself, i wanted him to be an outside character and his characteristics to be that of a writer and therefore we see him as a writter visually remembering what happened to Henry in order to write his article..... do you get where im coming from?????? everything i think sounds good in my head and visually but its hard to explain!!!???!!!

  3. Nah I know what you're saying. Show me some examples this week though so I have a visual idea of what you mean. Physical theatre could work with this character well as long as it wasn't too distracting from the plot or confusing. Who's playing his grandson?
