Day three

Interesting start to the devising project. Small warm up to get us focused and a quick memory game to get our minds on the right track. We sat down and began sharing ideas, seeing what we had all come up with. There are thousands of great ideas being tossed around but are mostly floating in the air at the moment. It's probable that the route it'll be going down will be some sort of psychological piece, with a possible comedy and a twist at the end. Although it's been circling around, these ideas have yet to find a main source to feed off to see if we can attatch our thoughts to it. So we're currently looking for a source that we can base our memory project around and find something interesting to make it grow into an impressive performance. Tuesday 1st Feb we will compare the sources we have found.

some ideas that came up:

  • the idea of having lots of short scenes that link together some how.
  • the idea of repeating these scenes or repitition being used a lot throughout.
  • scriptwork, physical theatre, silks, song, visual.
  • a brain in the centre of the stage where a piece is removed after each scene, and the hippocampus is left and never removed from the model.
  • a doctor or lab technician discussing the importance of this part of the brain at the end of the piece.
  • repetion and flashbacks.
  • a one man show in which everyone or several people play the same character and it's this character's story that we are following.
  • anagrams around the room that are put in the correct order at the end of the piece in order to send a message or feeling to the audience.
  • the idea of mirrors and having lots of mirrors around the space so the audience can see themseleves and all the action that is going on. the idea of being able to see into another world through the mirrors.
  • working the performance back to front and then playing in the correct order to work out the event that caused the memory loss
